Stump Removal and Safety
Stump removal is almost as important as tree removal. The risks associated with stump removal far outweigh the benefits of holding onto them in your yard. The first of several reasons to remove a stump from your property is to avoid physical injury during further landscaping. Think about it like this; imagine you’re using your lawn mower and you’re routinely cutting your yard down. All you need is to graze over a small portion of the stump in question by accident for it to disrupt your normal landscaping activities. In an extreme case scenario this could create physical injury.
If you have kids, allowing them to play in the yard suddenly becomes a more dangerous situation when you take into account the possibility of them tripping on old stumps. Stumps also provide ideal homes to many insects such as beetles, wood borers, and termites. The reason why is quite simple; dead wood is much easier to chew through. This means two things for insects; more food that is easier to eat and secondly an easier home to make. This means that stumps can easily be turned into huge birthing grounds for insects on your property. Basically, this creates a launch point for them to spread throughout your property to even more trees.
