Exposed Tree Roots Are Not a Good Thing
The topic of exposed tree roots is kind of a gray area subject. We as a tree care company feel they belong underground while others don’t see too much disadvantage with being above ground.
Roots will grow and appear wherever they can find soil to absorb nutrients, water and oxygen. Roots will also rise above ground or move around if they hit something they are unable to penetrate such as hard rock. Unless you see the tree leaning in a particular direction, exposed roots shouldn’t really be considered a liability. For most species this usually just means that there has been erosion of top soil for sometime.
