What to Do When You’ve Got Exposed Roots?
Seeing exposed roots can be a big sign of trouble. Naturally for most tree species they shouldn’t be above the surface of soil. Beneath the soil is where they absorb water and nutrients to prosper.
The reasons you may see exposed roots could be due to a number of factors including:
- Rain or Runoff Erosion
- Lack of Space
- People Trampling the Soil Until There is None Left
What we would do is cover the entire area with mulch and apply organic material such as wood chips. The tree will be in much better company surrounded by mulch than by grass.
