Damage Due to Over-Pruning of Trees
The dangers of over-pruning a tree are significant. It’s one of the most common and worst mistakes either a homeowner or tree care company can make. The tree care industry estimates that no more than 20 to 30% of foliage should be removed in a single year.
Over-Pruning has negative effects on the structural integrity of a tree, aesthetics and the shape. When we prune, we’re actually creating wounds which the tree has to grow back. In order for the tree to grow back those limbs or heal, it uses nutrients. Depending on the situation, if there are too many wounds, many bad things can happen.
