Watering Your Trees During the Summer
This is a complex subject to discuss because the watering amount depends on quite a few different factors. These include:
- Tree age
- Root damage
- Season
- Weather
- Soil conditions
- Tree species
To begin, freshly planted trees’ roots are still contained in a root ball. This area should be watered frequently for the first month or two after planting. It should also be watched 1-2 years into your tree’s life cycle.
Older trees should be watered further away from the trunk – think around the edges and beneath the canopy. Doing so closer to the trunk can spread disease and this is not something you’d like to deal with.
There are a few different recommendations we have for watering. You can either have an irrigation system setup or setup a maintenance agreement with a local tree care company. Quality Tree Care Services provides all different types of monthly watering services to on-going clients throughout Asheville, NC and surrounding areas.
