Tree Removal Tips
Removing a tree from your yard can be a tad tricky. Initially, you will need to complete an inspection of the area and determine where the drop area is going to be when you fall the tree. Limbs will need to be cut into small sizes you will be able to handle. Proper safety equipment needs to be worn when you are using the chainsaw and you need to know how to run a chainsaw.
#1 Safety Equipment
Before you even start the chainsaw, you need to be sure that you have all the proper safety gear on. That includes full protective headgear that will fit properly with your eye protection. Make sure you have a good pair of leather gloves and chaps are a good idea to protect your limbs. You should be wearing boots that have anti slip treads.
#2 Dropping the Tree
You will need to use ropes to guide the tree down to the area you’ve selected. Yards often have a small clearance area that will require the use of ropes and so they’ll need guidance to come down in the open space. Make sure you are aware of the surroundings for things like overhead wires.
The Limbs
Once the tree is down you can start to remove the limbs on the outside of the tree and work into the tree. Keep yourself clear. Cut the tree limbs close to the trunk from the opposite side, which will keep the trunk between the limb and you.
The Trunk
Cut the trunk into smaller sections that you will find easier to handle. Cut the trunks laying on the ground through the top halfway and then roll the trunk and you can finish the cut.
The Stump
You will either need to hire a tree stump grinder or rent the equipment so that you can remove the top are of your stump. If you want, you can rot the stump by filling the cavities with straight salt. This will speed up the killing of the roots.
