Tree Height Reduction
This is also known in the industry as “crown reduction pruning or “drop crouching.” We’d like to think of it as the healthy alternative to “tree topping” which can be very bad for a tree’s overall health.
Tree height reduction is a necessary service when a tree has grown to large for it’s own growth zone. This means that branches may be growing into power-lines, structures or may obstruct your view of certain landscape elements.
We prefer it to tree topping because it will result in a more natural appearance, increases the time needed before pruning is used again and actually reduces overall structural stress.
Although we maintain that this is the healthier alternative to topping, we still use it sparingly as it can and will produce large wounds which are not easy to heal on a tree. Wounds can attract pests, insects and disease.
